Introduction

PI*TEC (www.pitec.org) is a service provided by ALTEC (Advanced Learning Technologies Education Consortia) at the Center for Research on Learning, the University of Kansas. We are pleased to present it to the Missouri private and independent schools educational community to improve learning through the integration of technology into instruction.

As such we rely on the community to use the resources as intended. Inappropriate use of PI*TEC will place an unreasonable burden on all who find it useful. Please help us keep it available.

Privacy

All information collected for use on the PI*TEC site is kept confidential. No information is sold, traded, or distributed to other agencies or organizations.

To register for PI*TEC users must provide certain personally identifiable and general demographic information. During the registration process, you agree to: (a) provide accurate, current and complete information as prompted, and (b) maintain and update your User Information in order to keep it accurate, current and complete. If ALTEC learns or suspects any of your User Information is not accurate, current or complete, ALTEC reserves the right to suspend access to or terminate your account, immediately and without notice, and to refuse any future use of PI*TEC.

Information provided by a user will not be sold or contracted for solicitations. Users must provide their email address in order to activate their user account, but may choose to keep this information hidden from view of other users. Personal information and images are submitted at the user's own risk. Please do not provide information that discloses your personal address or other pertinent information that may be used to harm you.

Use of Cookies

Cookies are used to track your location in this site, but no records of individual site use or browsing preference are stored. No information is extracted from your computer unless it relates directly to the use of this site.

Terms of Use

The PI*TEC web site is a free service for the educational community, funded by the US Department of Education as part of the Missouri PY-Pass of Title IID funds. This community includes educators and administrators in K-12 private and independent schools in Missouri.

• A valid email address must be supplied in order for ALTEC to be allowed contact with the author. E-mail addresses are confidential (unless you choose to make them public) and will only be used for contact by ALTEC staff. Note: All personal information will be kept confidential and will not be used for any purposes other than for administration of this site.
• PI*TEC is an educational tool and not intended for free use by corporate or for-profit organizations.
• The features and options available to users are presented 'as-is'. ALTEC will not alter the web site to suit particular wishes. We are, however, open to suggestions for improving this site's features and functionality. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact info@PI*TEC.org
• ALTEC reserves the right to modify or discontinue PI*TEC without notice.
• The administrators of PI*TEC will not be held liable for any lost or incorrectly represented data. Should a system error occur, ALTEC will make attempts to restore lost data, but cannot guarantee all data to be recovered or accurately compiled.
• Users agree to abide by all local, state, national and international laws and regulations applicable to your use of PI*TEC.

Prohibited Use

If it is noted that a user is in violation of any federal, state, or local laws, the authorities will be contacted.

In connection with use of PI*TEC, users agree to the following:

• Users will not post any material that is intended to offend or attack.
• Users will not post any information or content, including but not limited to visual images, that are unlawful, false or misleading, or that promote illegal conduct or purposes.
• Users will not promote bigotry, racism, hatred, or harm of any kind against any group or individual.
• Users will not post materials that harass or are libelous, invasive of another's privacy, abusive, threatening, vulgar, obscene, tortious, or otherwise objectionable.
• Users will not post or transmit, through PI*TEC, materials that would violate any law or the rights of others, including, without limitation, any threatening, harassing, defamatory, or obscene materials.
• Users will not post materials that are or could be in any way harmful to minors.
• Users will not upload, post, or otherwise transmit any viruses or other harmful, disruptive, or destructive files; access or attempt to access any software or content you are not authorized to access; disrupt or interfere with the security of, or otherwise cause harm to PI*TEC or any systems, accounts, passwords, servers, or networks connected to or accessible through PI*TEC.
• Users will not use any data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction methods.
